Forbidden Dreams

It's crazy to know we live in a world where people are constantly being mentally and physically put under arrest

A government built with the hopes of helping a system that is so clearly oppressed

They wonder why there are so many suicides and death threats

Woman still marching in the streets for equality

Hoping one day to be treated as we should be

Queens
Creators of life
Mothers of nature

Hiding our bodies

Because you can't seem to hide your vulgar thoughts

As if that is the way you were taught

Black individuals getting killed for problems that go back centuries

Walking through the street

Hands up

Yelling "I have a dream" and it does not involve being killed by the age of 15

Deep rooted flaws that have made a way into and throughout OUR history

President yelling " make America great again"

It has never been great for my people

Martin Luther King died in 1968 and we are still here reciting " I have a dream"

Yet it all seems to go unseen

Like the crimes committed against individuals who look just like me

They knew to make the people weak it was all a matter

Of how to divide and deplete

Anything that might help us escape that unattained dream that we seek.
